Kansas Aviation Stars
by
Character Re-enactors:

Skilled actor-historians bring Kansas aviation heroes to life, right before your eyes, so they can tell you -- in their "own" words -- all about the dramatic lives & times in which they lived.

  • Ride into History:
    Amelia Earhart

    played by Ann Birney
The classic world-famous, daring woman from Kansas, who bested most men in the sky, setting records, shaping aviation, and changing forever the idea of what a woman can do.

  • Clyde V. Cessna, Pioneer Pilot
    played by Gary Krehbiel
Story of the Kansas farm-boy who was first to build a plane on the Great Plains, and his adventures through barnstorming, inventing & air-racing -- ultimately creating what would become the world's most prolific airplane manufacturer.

  • Gladys the Riveter:
World War II Home Front Heroine

    played by Teresa Bachman
(A takeoff of the "Rosie the Riveter" theme, about women in WWII aircraft factories, fighting "The Battle of Kansas," as the demands of war changed their roles in society.)

  • Louise Thaden, Beech Pilot
    played by Bonnie Johnson
(Thaden became a famous racer, piloting Kansas-built Travel Air & Beechcraft airplanes, & won the 1936 Transcontinental Air Race, in a Kansas plane.)
